Dereck Blair is a lifelong servant of the community who has been an insurance expert, financial planner, and tax specialist for almost a decade.
As a 3rd generation farmer himself, Dereck grew up experiencing first-hand the pressure that comes with knowing that a bad crop or a bad turn of luck could bankrupt their family or worse, even if it seemed like they were doing everything else right.
Dereck uses this same philosophy in financial planning, to help and guide individuals, families, and businesses he works with; to plan for the good but be well prepared for the unfortunate situations that potentially may happen. He does this by using a very comprehensive and personal planning system.
After attending West Texas A&M University, Dereck founded Caprock Financial so that he could implement his philosophy and help families like his protect and grow their generational wealth without the constant worry that they may lose the things they worked so hard for.
Today he lives a life that he’s proud of in Shallowater where he is married to the love of his life, Heather, and raising their six amazing children.

Heather is a successful businesswoman who has been in the financial industry for over 12 years. She and her husband Dereck established Caprock Financial Group with a vision of holistic and comprehensive financial planning. Heather has a passion for serving her community and is an integral part of the success of the business. Prior to joining the financial industry, Heather worked as a dental hygienist in Lubbock for 20 years. When she’s not working, Heather enjoys traveling, working out, cooking and spending time with their six amazing children.
JOANN NEWPORT

Joann Newport, a Texas Tech graduate, began her career in the insurance and financial industry shortly after completing her degree in 2005. Her passion for helping clients secure their future by devising a solid plan has driven her work ever since. Growing up with a single mother, Joann witnessed firsthand the importance of financial planning, not only to prepare for unexpected events but also to ensure long-term financial stability. Joann resides in Lubbock with her husband Scott while her daughter, Madison, pursues a degree in criminology at Texas Tech, with plans to attend law school.
When she’s not working, Joann enjoys traveling, spending time with her loved ones, and rooting for her favorite team – the Red Raiders.

Amy Chisum offers a wealth of diversity to both of our companies, having worked in insurance and real estate, as well as digital marketing, public relations, and social media marketing. Along with her professional pursuits, she has always had a heart for serving the community. This is evident from her extensive list of credentials such as obtaining her Life, Property, Casualty and Health Insurance Licenses, Texas Real Estate License, Group Fitness Instructor Certifications, and involvement in numerous community service organizations.
Amy and her three incredible children have lived in Lubbock County for 16 years.
Amy enjoys painting and working on projects, exercising, traveling with her children, and spending quality time with loved ones and friends during her free time.

Denise Potter, from Shallowater, Texas, lives with her dedicated firefighter husband, Royking Potter, and their two amazing sons, Rodie and Rylan. Rodie is a 23-year-old electrical engineering student at Texas Tech University, while Rylan is a 20-year-old lineman at HILCO Electric Co-op in Hillsboro, Texas.
Denise has been an insurance agent for the past nine years and absolutely loves her job. Assisting others is her passion and helping them with their insurance needs is a wonderful way to do so.
CHRISTY DE LA CRUZ

Christy De La Cruz is a proud resident of Olton, Texas, where she was born and raised. Her family’s journey began with immigrant work, and they spent their summers working in the fields. In 1996, Christy married Arturo De La Cruz, and together they have a daughter and a son. When her children were young, Christy worked at an irrigation business as a bookkeeper and payroll clerk. In 2008, she earned her P & C license, igniting her passion for the insurance world. She takes pride in helping farmers receive the best coverage and attention they deserve. Beyond her work at BlairAg Insurance, she and her husband serve as Pastors at Trinity Church in Olton, and she’s involved in a Prison Ministry for young offenders. Christy’s dedication to her family, community, and work is truly inspiring!
